Carquest to Positrak

Many Independent Carquests have been forced into a situation they weren’t prepared for. Positrak is here to help. This outlines our role in the changeover process. We’re just one piece of the puzzle, but we will work with you and your new vendor to make the transition as smooth as possible.

1) Data Conversion

To start with, we will pull your data from the Exploris system as-is. This includes line codes, inventory, UPC codes, accounts, and even transaction history (LISA report).

2) Line Changes

At that point, we will convert all common lines to your new vendor. This includes line code changes, and/or simple part number changes where a prefix or suffix might be a little different. Inventory information like on hand and order point/min/max will be unaffected on these lines.

Any product line changeovers including rebox, relabel, or lifts, including private label Carquest lines will need additional attention from the vendor. Once they do those line conversions, they can provide us with a changeover file so we can flip the old number to the new number. This will retain any history and all part information like on hand and order point/min/max.

Part information can only be retained if a changeover file is provided. In some cases this depends on the manufacturer, and may not be possible. In that case the vendor will provide a file to load in new inventory.

3) Price Plans/Groups

We are able to extract the existing price plans/groups from the Exploris, but we do not recommend doing so, for several reasons:

- These were mostly set up and managed by Carquest.
- They are based on line code and sub group. Once we start changing line codes, they basically become invalid. Also, sub group is defined by the vendor. Carquest’s will be different from your new vendor.

Our recommendation is to start from scratch. We can help you set up new plans that are easy to learn and manage, and we can help you assign those accordingly.

Other Notes

The Positrak catalog has no Carquest lines. You will not be able to look up any of those lines in our catalog until the vendor reboxes/relabels to a new line.
The Retailers keep a pretty good lid on their interchanges, so it may be difficult to interchange Carquest numbers. This is hit-or-miss and depends on the manufacturer and what they provide.
